The J.C. Penney store in Mount Berry Square Mall will be closings its door permanently.
The retailer, which filed for bankruptcy last month, is closing 154 stores nationwide and the Rome location is on the list.
According to the Associated Press, the Plano, Texas-based retailer said it could take about 10 to 16 weeks to complete the closures, which could start as early as next week.
J.C. Penney is the largest retailer to file for bankruptcy due to the coronavirus pandemic which forced non-essential stores to be shut down temporarily.
