The Floyd County Board of Education voted Friday to appoint Steve Turrentine to the Post 1 seat on the board.

The vote was 4-0.

Turrentine retired as principal at Model Middle School in 2021.

He also served as principal at Armuchee Middle School from 2011 to 2014.

He will now represent the Armuchee School attendance area on the board of education, taking over for Chip Hood, who resigned to run for a seat on the Floyd County Commission.
