The Floyd County Board of Elections and Registrations will meet on Friday to certify the results of the November 5 General Election.

45,003 of 61,077 registered voters cast ballots, which is 74 percent. Turnout was 73 percent in 2020.

31,113 voted in advance.

Donald Trump was the top vote-getter in the presidential election while Marjorie Taylor Greene won re-election to Congress. For the State House of Representatives, Katie Dempsey won in District 13 and Eddie Lumsden won in District 12. Colton Moore won the State Senate in District 53.

Three ballot measures were also approved by voters in Floyd County and statewide.

Amendment 1 will cap property assessment increases at the inflation rate from the previous year and give local governments the authority to hold a referendum regarding a 1% sales tax increase to lower property taxes

Amendment 2 will establish a state tax court to hear complaints against the Georgia Department of Revenue.

The Ballot Question will increase the exemption for tangible personal property such as business equipment, farm machinery, and furniture–but excludes vehicles, trailers, and mobile homes.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Floyd County Election Center on East 12th Street, Rome.

A caucus will be held before the meeting at 1:15 p.m.

The purpose of this meeting is for the statutory pre-certification.

The 1:30 p.m. meeting will recess, and if possible, the Board will reconvene at 5:15 p.m. to complete certification.

This meeting will also replace the regularly scheduled monthly meeting that occurs on the third Tuesday of November.
