Man seeks injunction to halt Tuesday election

November 2, 2021–10:36 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

Even as Rome and Cave Spring citizens were voting Tuesday, a local activist was petitioning Floyd Superior Court, seeking an injunction to halt the election.

The action brought by Mark Swanson centered on the logic and accuracy testing of the voting machines, and he wanted documentation showing that such testing had been completed.

Superior Court Judge Bryan Johnson told Swanson that Georgia Law provides a means to contest an election five days after the certification of a result.

Swanson received the documents he was requesting and agreed to drop the petition.

Dr. Melanie Conrad, chair of the elections board told the Rome News-Tribune that testing ran for five days and was open to the public with a notice running in the September 28 edition of the newspaper.
