Armuchee Middle starts virtual learning Monday

August 28, 2021–10:30 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

Students at Armuchee Middle School will start virtual learning on Moday.

Armuchee Middle is going virtual after the school surpassed the 5% threshold for positive COVID-19 cases among students and/or staff.

They reported 19 positives last week, up from 12 the week before.

Arnuchee High, Coosa High, and Coosa Middle are under mask mandates this week after passing the 2% mark for confirmed cases.

The Floyd County School System, as a whole, reported 137 COVID-19 cases from August 23-27, which is slightly down from the 143 the week before.

In the Rome City Schools, students at East Central, Elm Street, Main, West Central, and West End will continue wearing masks this week after passing the 1% threshold for positive tests.

The city school system reported 72 cases system-wide between August 20 and August 26.

That is up from 49 the week before.

Both city and county schools will have a state administrative day on Friday, meaning schools will be closed.

The action was taken to encourage Georgians to receive the COVID-19 vaccination and offered as a “thank you” to those who have already been vaccinated.

Floyd Medical Center will be offering vaccinations on Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Rome City Schools College and Career Academy on Veterans Memorial Highway.
