Man charged in 2024 fire at Thornton Recreation Center
A Covington, Georgia man is accused of starting a fire at the Thornton Recreation Center in Armuchee back in March of last year.
According to an arrest warrant:
32-year-old Cortez Lammar Dallas, who was an inmate at the Floyd County Prison at the time, used an unauthorized lighter and gasoline to start the fire inside the restroom of the recreation center on North Floyd Park Road, causing more than $1,500 in damage.
He is charged with 2nd-degree criminal damage to property, and interference with government property.
Student charged with battery on a school system employee
A student is facing charges following an incident on Monday at Coosa High School.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Jesse Leland Minter pushed a school employee who was trying to keep two students separated in an attempt to get past her.
He also yelled and swore at another victim while trying to fight him.
Minter is charged with simple battery, disorderly conduct, disruption of a public school, and simple battery against a school system employee.
Student accused of having THC vape at school
A Rome teen is accused of having vaping products while at Model High School.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
17-year-old Cameron Blaed Jacome had both THC and nicotine vapes, and a swab test confirmed a positive reaction for THC.
Jacome is charged with possession of THC vapes in a school zone, possession while under the age of 21, and furnishing tobacco to a minor.
Man accused of hitting, threatening woman
An Armuchee man has been arrested on warrants charging him with simple battery and terroristic threats and acts.
According to the warrants:
42-year-old John Thomas McCauley struck the victim in the neck and threatened to kill her.
The incident occurred Saturday at McCauley’s residence on Crackerneck Road.
Man charged with meth possession
A traffic stop on Martha Berry Highway ended with the arrest of an Aragon man on drug charges Tuesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
31-year-old Skyler Levi Wilson was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine, needles, plastic baggies and a scale.
He is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, and driving with a suspended license.
