Report: Man assaulted woman with a dumbbell
An Adairsville man is facing charges after he allegedly struck a woman on the forehead with a dumbbell.
According to Floyd County Jail Records:
54-year-old Christopher Jerome Harris also used his arm to strangle the victim during the incident Tuesday on Alpine Court.
Harris is charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
Woman accused of failing to feed dog
A 27-year-old Rome woman was arrested at her Shade Tree Lane residence Tuesday on a felony warrant charging her with aggravated cruelty to animals.
According to the warrant:
Alicia Torres failed to provide adequate food and water for a dog, causing the animal to become severely emaciated.
The dog was infested with fleas and had a superficial wound to its nose.
The tips of its canine teeth were missing possibly due to chewing on a cage or crate.
Man charged with animal cruelty
A Rome man was arrested at his Hasty Road home Tuesday on three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
According to the arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
59-year-old Sylvester Askew failed to provide adequate food for two dogs, causing them to become severely emaciated.
One of the dogs, which was being kept in unsanitary conditions, had a poor coat, overgrown toenails, and a fever.
Woman charged with financial card fraud, exploitation of the elderly
A Rome woman is accused of using a 70-year-old man’s financial transaction card without his permission.
According to an arrest warrant:
63-year-old Shirley Leivon Elkins used the card to pay rent at the Skytop Loft Apartments on Chateau Drive between August 23 and November 4.
The total of the transactions was listed at over $3,800.
Elkins is charged with financial transaction card fraud and exploitation of the elderly.
Homeless man arrested with stolen Chromebook
A homeless man has been arrested on charges of entering an automobile and theft by receiving stolen property.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
44-year-old Mark Elder Garcia had a stolen Chromebook is his backpack after he was seen entering a vehicle on Martha Berry Boulevard.
The Chromebook, valued at $400, belonged a public high school student.
