Vehicle stolen from Centre AL recovered after brief pursuit

A 911 call on Monday afternoon reported a stolen vehicle from Coheley’s Body Shop in Centre, according to Cherokee County Alabama Sheriff Jeff Shaver.

Law enforcement issued a BOLO for the 2011 Honda Accord, which deputies soon spotted on County Road 63 in the Sand Valley area.

When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply, initiating a pursuit.

The chase continued on Highway 9 toward Cedar Bluff until the driver lost control and ran off the road.

20-year-old Christopher Lee of Leesburg was arrested at the scene.

Lee faces multiple charges, including first-degree theft of property, first-degree criminal mischief, unlawful possession of marijuana, and attempting to elude.

Lee was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center. Police from Cedar Bluff, Centre, and Leesburg assisted in the response.
