Woman charged in August wreck
A Cave Spring woman has been charged in a crash on August 25 on Walker Mountain Road that resulted in one serious injury.
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
50-year-old Heather Ann Holtzclaw was under the influence of prescription drugs when the vehicle she was driving struck another vehicle head-on, resulting in a child under the age of 14 being injured.
Holtzclaw’s grandson was not properly restrained, according to the report.
She is charged with serious injury by vehicle, which is a felony, along with failure to maintain a lane, reckless driving, DUI, endangerment, a child restraint violation, and no insurance.
Woman accused of killing a cat
A disturbing case of animal cruelty has led to the arrest of a Rome woman on a felony charge of aggravated cruelty to animals.
According to an arrest warrant:
62-year-old Ester Manly Nelson killed a cat on December 7 at her apartment on Highway 411.
Felon arrested for having a firearm
Investigators recovered a firearm during the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Lindsey Road back on August 29 and have now arrested a Rome man for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to an arrest warrant:
The gun was found in the bedroom of 41-year-old Edward Junior Lawrence Sr.
Lawrence is also charged with a probation violation.
Two charged in theft of homemade trailer
Two men already in jail have now been charged in the theft of a 1989 dual axle homemade trailer, valued at $1,800, from a location on Turner Road on November 4.
30-year-old Gary Dalton Morgan and 35-year-old Daramis Deunte Stevenson are both charged with felony theft by taking.
Stevenson has been in jail since November 14 after being arrested on a warrant for vehicle theft.
Morgan was initially arrested on November 19 and is facing multiple charges related to the theft of vehicles, and firearms.
