A traffic stop on North Broad Street for a seatbelt violation ended with a Riverdale, Georgia man being jailed on multiple charges over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
33-year-old Kevin Anthony Parks had a firearm despite being a convicted felon.
He admitted to stealing the firearm.
Parks also had two bags of marijuana and gave another name when asked for identification.
A Rome Police Department report stated that Parks was driving a white van that contained packages for Rome citizens.
He stated he was a private contractor for a delivery company based in Smyrna and the packages were legit.
The packages were released to a co-worker for delivery and the van was towed.
Parks is charged with theft by taking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, giving a false name or date of birth to law enforcement, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and not wearing a seatbelt.
